Great Picture - Hands in excellent position for catch and head down so hands can get maximum reach.. Loverly flat position in water |

Very good to see the hips rise out of the water creating good undulation. |

|
I see now what I do wrong. |

Nice photo! It's great to see how she sends her energy forward rather than down. |

I have to questions:
today a coach told me not to keep the arms straightened but to bent them in the end of the recovery. is it really better swimming like that? |
|
|
Misty doesn't stay flat. It may look that way at this moment of her stroke, but that's because her arms are SO flexible, the arms and hands trail her body as she presses into the water. It's a very fluid and beautiful stroke. As far as bending your arms into the entry of fly, there are some swimmers who bend their arms in. Although not generally the rule, it's hard to answer this specifically since I can't see you swim. Based on individual coaching, the same coach may say totally different things to different swimmers who are actually in the SAME lane. That's the art of coaching. Giving the individual swimmer what is needed. |

may I give u the URL to a video, where I swim fly and would you tell me what I do wrong/ right? I am slow and I don't know why :o( |
|

Don't forget the Palm Up recovery shown here. With your hands turned like she has them it seems to unlock the joint through the arm pits and allows you to hinge open further and more comfortably. This flexing through the arm pit allows for an easy chest press which allows for the hips to stay high and ready to undualate into the kick. When I swim fly this is the set up moment in the stroke where you can feel for the teeter totter like action of the chest pressing and the hips going up. |

Ok, thanks, I just keep on practice. |
